How to Customize Accessibility Settings for Different Apps on Your iPhone
Follow these tips to customize your accessibility settings on an app-by-app basis on your iPhone.
One of the software features Apple has always been serious about is accessibility. Apple devices have a range of accessibility features to ensure that everyone with varying skills and abilities can use them. But not all app developers give the same focus to accessibility.
On occasion, you might find that certain apps are particularly difficult to use. Luckily, with the release of iOS 15, you can change accessibility features for specific apps, to overcome this. Here's how to do it.
How to Customize Accessibility Settings for Specific Apps
If you only want to modify the apps you use, you can selectively customize them according to your preference. You can also customize your Home Screen and Settings if you need modifications to better navigate through them. To do this:
- Head to Settings > Accessibility.
- Scroll to the bottom, then tap Per-App Settings. Choose any app, or select Settings or Home Screen.
- Choose the accessibility feature or features you want to modify.
How to Get Easy Access to Accessibility Features
Another way to change accessibility features for different apps on your iPhone is to make it easier to toggle different features on or off using the Control Center or Accessibility Shortcut. That way you can easily control your accessibility settings whenever you switch to a new app.
If you have a specific accessibility feature that you regularly need, add it to Control Center for easier access. To do this, go to Settings > Control Center, then add Accessibility Shortcuts. Be sure to toggle Access Within Apps on so that you can access your Control Center within apps instead of only in the Home Screen.
Then, go to Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut and select the shortcut you want to easily access through the Control Center or by triple-clicking the Side button.
Personalize Accessibility on Your iPhone
If you need to use accessibility features for certain apps, but you don't want to use them across the board on your iPhone, then these tips should be useful for you.
You don't have to trade functionality for ease of use. Customizing the accessibility features for certain apps allows you to have both.
